Dale’s Vanity Page
There are lots of Dale Martins in the world, so I’ll clarify which one I am. I grew up outside of Waldo, Ohio (near Marion) and went to Waldo Elementary School from 1976-1982. I went to River Valley Junior High and High School from 1983 until 1988. From there I attended the University of Cincinnati from 1988-1993, and then, not having punished myself enough, I continued at UC for grad school from 1993-1995.
After working full-time at UC from 1995-1998, I went on to help start up Clifton Labs, Inc and worked there until early 2005. In May 2005 I started at The MathWorks in Natick, MA as a senior software engineer. The MathWorks is a great company and I’m really enjoying it there. I am also official developer of Debian Linux.
Being a geek, I enjoy reading slashdot and post there on a semi-regular basis. Sometimes things I say get moderated positively by others, sometimes not. You can see the list of my most recent comments here.
On the personal front, I met my wife, Mary, in 1992 through a mutual friend of ours. She was attending grad school at UC and I was a senior there. We hit it off right away and the rest, as they say, is history. Our first daughter, Natalie, was born in December 1998, and our second, Caroline, was born in April of 2001. Our third, Katherine, was born in January 2005. All three girls are real sweethearts and each is a truly special person!
