Welcome to www.the-martins.org

Hello - welcome to our virtual refrigerator door, bulletin board, or whatever you want it to be! I set up this site as an easy way to share digital photos among friends and family. It can be whatever anyone wants it to be, though. If you have ideas please let me know!
The Internet seems to be the modern Wild West! This site has been defaced, spammed with hundreds of link submissions, and now we routinely have strangers registering. So I've disabled registration - email me if you want to register a new account. Thanks, Dale

The Video Contest is on

Kevin, John, and I made plenty of videos together when we went to school together. After sharing a few of those old memories via Google Video, we decided it would be fun to have an internet-enabled video contest.

So, we have each uploaded an entry to Google Video: Speedy Walking, by John and GiGi Penix, My Dog is Special, by Kevin Becker and Tito, and Tiggerzilla, by Dale and Katherine Martin. Check 'em out, and click on the little stars next to the current rating to add your own!

Early Spring, 2006 with more photos!

website

As always, there have been a bunch of additions to the photo gallery. Check out pictures from Ellen's wedding in Dale's and Barbara's albums. There are also pictures from a visit with Brent and Nancy, and from Easter with Liz.

Overall we've had a nice spring so far despite all of the rain!

the-martins.org has been quite busy

Despite the lack of activity on the front page, go to the gallery and see all of the activity there... Updates in my album, the McKee's, Suzanne's, and a new Brent and Nancy album. It's taken a while but I think this site is transforming into what I had envisioned - a way for everyone to share and stay connected!

As far as my mention of the weather in the last two posts.... It's snowed plenty of times since then but really it's been a mild winter here so far. We're about 30" behind in snowfall compared to average right now and it has been quite warm. You don't hear me complaining, although I have not yet made it skiing with the big girls which is something I want to do...

Thanksgiving, Ohio, Halloween and More

There has been a lot going on in the gallery of the-martins.org. Grandma Barbara and Suzanne both figured out how to upload pictures - check out their albums. Meanwhile, we've had Halloween, Dale took a trip to Ohio, and we enjoyed Thanksgiving with Grandma Barbara.

Enjoy, and as always, let me know if you have troubles accessing any of these!

No Snow Yet

Well, there hasn't been any snow yet (referring to my last entry), but as you may have seen in the news, it's been quite rainy here. We had 12" of rain in a week, which explains a lot about how there really could be a lot of snow when it gets cold!

We've been busy busy busy as usual, but taking some time for some fun too. We had an excellent visit with Suzanne and family, meeting Robbie for the first time, who is perfect in every way! And here is an album of shots from around the house this fall - more to come soon.

Fall Photos

In trying to keep up with the task of downloading photos from the camera, organizing them, and posting them to the website, I processed some more this weekend. Check out the Fall 2005 that I added.
It has been beautiful here up until this weekend; now it's cooled down and quite rainy. We've been told usually the first snow would be in the next week or two; we'll see!

The Providence Zoo

We've been enjoying what is apparently an extraordinarily mild early fall here in New England, and spending quite a bit of time outside. We made a trip down to the Roger Williams Park and Zoo and took some photos for you to enjoy.

The girls have started school and there are also some pictures of their first days of school, and we've had many fun visits from a variety of family members. We hope everyone is enjoying early fall wherever they are!

Charles Robert Lucas and more!

Posted by: dale on Sunday, August 07, 2005 - 01:30 PM

Hi everyone! A lot's been going on, but due to some technical issues with the website (click 'read more' for more on that) I've been a little behind in getting stuff on here.

The biggest news is that Suzanne and Jonathan had their first child, Charles Robert Lucas on Monday, July 25th. They've set up their own photo album (see the web links on this site for the URL) but I grabbed some of pictures to share here. We're so happy for Suzanne, Jonathan, and little Robbie and hope they get some sleep soon!!!

It's been a while since I added pictures of little Maddux Nielsen so I added them the latest that I have. I'll add more if they find their way to me - hint, hint ;-)

Mary and the girls have been busy exploring our new surroundings and made a trip to The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA. Here is an album from that trip, which they all enjoyed very much.

There are a bunch of other photos from a bunch of other occasions if you vist our top level album. (Note that you need to be logged in to see them. Email me if you don't remember your username/password.)

The McKees summer fun and Dylan's Baptism

Mike writes:
Dear Friends and Family,

We hope everyone is staying cool and having a wonderful summer! Laura, Dylan and I had a very nice visit with Mom, Claire & Gabe, Katie & Fran, Jamie & Kat before Dylan's baptism weekend. We spent a lot of time soaking in the sun and body surfing at the beach. We also indulged in some excellent foods including sushi and lobstah. I'm still recovering from the extra vacation lbs. and riding my new longboard (thanks Mom) many times around the block to burn it off.

On July 24th, Dylan was baptized at St. Matthias church in East Lyme, CT. Dylan's baptism was really special and we enjoyed having many family members here to share in the experience. I know Dylan will appreciate the care and support he gets from his godparents Uncle Jamie and Aunt Goldfish (a.k.a. Karen)....as well as the rest of you all.

After the service, the McKee clan trucked it back to Ohio and Arizona. As they were sitting in traffic on I-95, Laura's side of the family joined us along with some close friends for a post-baptism shindig at Chez McKee. The party included some fabulous serenading by Natalie and Caroline Martin. It was quite the hoot!

I've posted pictures from all our adventures on the Martins website under the albums entitled Summertime with Buddy Pants 2005 and Dylan's Baptism. Many of the pictures from the latter album were taken compliments of Dale. Enjoy! Hope to see you all soon!

Peace and Love,

Mike, Laura, and Lil' D

As most of you know, we're preparing to move to Massachusetts as I'm starting a new job with The MathWorks in May. We're very excited about it and we've been quite busy getting ready! Still, we've made time to visit the zoo, celebrate Easter with a trip to the aquarium, celebrate Caroline's birthday, and take a trip to King's Island! Next stop, Massachusetts!

Every scientific truth goes through three stages. First, people say it conflicts with the Bible. Next, they said it had been discovered before. Lastly, they say they always believed it.
